Now I’m certain that it’s a good thing I didn’t read the book, because I probably would have thrown it across the room at some point, tried to continue reading it later, and then thrown it across the room again. Repeat.

Yeah, I agree with you about claiming ideas are ancient when they’re new interpretations. Robert Langdon’s a religious symbologist, but he does spout a lot of history. The parts that were dorky for me were when Sophie of the Green Eyes was trying to do some type of heroic thing and Langdon would stand in the background and say, “Y’know, in 1503, Mary Magdalene blah blah.” If I were Sophie Neveu of the Green Eyes, I would have turned around and said, “Dude. My grandpa got murdered. Do you think we could actually try and solve the case?” They never really actively pursue the murderer, they get distracted by the Holy Grail (who doesn’t, I mean?). The murderer seeks them out.
And then there’s the climactic battle over Sir Isaac Newton’s grave. I’ll ruin the book. It’s APPLE. The magic word that opens the cryptex is APPLE. Because that’s what Eve ate, and that’s what fell on Newton’s head, and it all represents Mary Magdalene’s goddess womb.

I didn’t listen to too much of it, because what I heard seemed so poorly written. Morgan listened to the rest of it and told me it would have just annoyed me more.
