Yes, my friends, now you can subscribe to a podcast full of barbarian wackiness. The actual site is giving me guff with the RSS feed, but you can see the feed at:

If you enter that into iTunes, you’ll be able to rock out to the latest stuff.

This really has nothing to do with your pocast, which I hear is chock full o’ bass, but I was reading through your sidebar, particularly “A Study in Identity.” There were a few things that came to mind, but the only one I’ll comment on at the moment is the song lyrics in #2. They reminded me of a song by VNV Nation, a techno group out of Germany. The song is called Fearless, and it has one of my favorite passages of lyrics:
I am not alone. I am not afraid. I am not unhappy.
The words I say to myself everyday.
I am not alone. I am not afraid. I am not unhappy.
Such a stupid ritual to have to say to myself everyday.
I’m not alone but I found my answer and set myself free. I’m not unhappy.
It’s simple, but it’s inspiring, in a way.
It’s funny. I missed the fact that they were techno/electronica (even though you had mentioned it). I pictured more of an emo sound. Funny.
So the lyrics from VNV kinda remind me of U2′s “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. It could go one of two ways. Why is he saying that it’s a stupid ritual?
It’s cool that you’re reading the sidebars. I write ‘em for myself, and if others have benefits, cool enough.
And yes, club barbarian has a lot of bass.
I could see the emo thing. I think with that backing, it would probably be a lot more depressing. As is, the song is a lot more energetic and uplifting. If you’re interested, here is the live version. *looks around cautiously for the RIAA*
From the way I read it, when he says it’s a stupid ritual, he means it’s kind of a dumb thing to have to do, it’s a little embarrassing to tell himself this every day. He knows that it works, though, and that’s why he does it.
I do enjoy the sidebar. Some good stuff there- one line that particularly made me smile was, “Yes, Liz has classic beauty-determining lines reminiscent of the Neo-classicist women in Rousseau’s paintings from 18th century France, but that doesn’t explain the jump in my heart that happens when she smiles at me.” The eternal struggle between the analytical mind and the romantic soul.
It’s good to be understood. Thanks.
Sleight of Hand = 13+4= 17
As far as you can tell, the Rodent Intellectual Arcane Automatons don’t notice the hand-off.
In the picture, the chest contains a Metallica song and the skull is from a little old lady who accidentally downloaded Kazaa.
