I saw Pirates on Sunday. Just like Superman, I’ll give people time to go see it. The reason I rushed to see it was so that I could avoid people like me who tell the whole plot.
While waiting in line, I got interviewed by a marketing firm. Jim Keegan *wink wink nudge nudge* helped me out. (Although the college boy wrote down ‘Tegan’.) I looked at a poster for Waist Deep. They asked me what I thought about it. I said that it had a naked man on the poster and that I wasn’t too keen on naked men. They asked me what I liked about the poster. I told them that I liked the font because it was blue. He asked if it was my favorite color and I said yes. Keep in mind that I was wearing a light blue shirt and dark blue shorts. He then proceeded to ask me 40 questions about my hobbies. He had promised that I could watch a trailer but it never happened. One of the options for hobbies, amid ‘Camping’ and ‘Attending art shows’, was ‘Drinking beer’. “You want to play a board game? No, let’s just drink beer.”
An unfair twist of fate for Pirates was that the trailers beforehand were for Night at the Museum and Transformers.
‘Museum’ looks incredibly funny.
Transformers stars Shia LaBeouf/Beowulf (sp) and Bernie Mac and is directed by Michael Bay. (I look for directors instead of actors. I’m pumped that it’s Michael Bay because he did The Rock and Armageddon and The Island and Bad Boyz and other movies where flying vehicles chase vehicles on the ground. Trust me: watch a Michael Bay movie and try and tell me there’s no air-to-land chase. It’s like a John Woo movie without two-fisted guns diving to the side.
Transformers also stars Tyrese Gibson, who I guess is in Waist Deep as well. The marketing guy asked me if I knew The Game. I guess it’s a hip-hop star in Waist Deep. I threw the question back at him. He said that he was familiar with The Game.
Figures.
