I’m not saying the show’s cliche yet. I could read a Star Wars novel and tell you that either someone will struggle with the dark side of the Force or a pilot will be brash. So welcome to archetype-palooza!
Booyor:
Nathan is the hooded man. And Alejandro will angst for Mya and maybe they’ll get separated again. And Peter will struggle with opening the box. And some paintings.
My Wife:
Nathan is the hooded man. And blood. There will be blood.
Bethany:
Someone’s going to catch on fire and, uh, not die. And maybe jump off a building.
(Folks, she doesn’t watch the show. But she is a genius.)
Teddi:
Someone will go back in time and meet the cause of all the problems.
Peter:
Jesus, duh.
Alison, what say you? Is the stolen car Claire’s?
It’s interesting that we’ve got a virus similar to the Phalanx virus that plagued the X-Men.
Semi-related posts:
Yes, the car is hers. I’ve decided.
They will get past the border. (After getting separated, killing people, then healing them with the evil scary eyes)
Romance with Claire and flying boy who I believe to be part of “the company”.
More paintings.
Blood.
Subtitles. Lots of them.
Peter will struggle with the box, but look really good doing so.
Oh yeah and I guess Nathan is the hooded guy?
They’ve already hit at least a couple of cliches, and I’m only half-way through the episode.
Ha-ha! I mock your lack of Daylight Savings, by watching your shows an hour earlier!
Gyar! (Shaking fist.)
At least we have our own category when setting up your computer in Windows XP.
Flying boy part of the company, hm? He does have the migration tagging chip from the paper company.
So I had some things right. Like the car. Yeah I win. EW Sylar needs to stop being so creepy… oh wait, that won’t happen. And of course Maya speaks English?
Claire’s “You’re killing me” = Cute boy is evil or something. Duh.
Poor Molly.
And I was disappointed at no Milo Ventimiglia good-looking-box-struggle-ness.
Yeah, my wife made some comment that flying boy was evil.
The whole Hollywood sign was super-cliche.
No box-struggle-ness makes me weep…for you. (That sounded a lot more like I was making fun of you than I’d hoped.) Nice called shot on the whole car thing, Alison.
But the big surprise? No blood.
Hollywood sign was the only ergh for me. One of my favorite lines?
Claire’s dad: This cheerleading thing…
Claire: It came as a surprise to me.
Some fun irony. And mysterious wind chimes every time Stalker Soarer (his official villain name) comes around.
Dreadfully mysterious.
The part that made it super-hero for me, though, was the Ilyana reference. (It’s like the writers are fans of X-Men or something…which is not a bad thing, in my book.) Ilyana as a kid was trapped in her own mind (loved Molly’s screaming with a silent coma on her face). Xavier had to duke it out inside of her mind with the Shadow King.
It’s like Parkman, Sr. has locked Molly in. Her last words being “Matt”? Totally comic book and totally okay.
It looks like Hooded Sweatshirt (and over-protective Petrelli mom) will last another week. And Maya took a correspondence course of Teach Yourself English in 12 Easy Steps.
‘Somewhere in the middle of the desert: Maya, Alejandro, and Derek’
Derek? Oh, yeah! I cracked up.
I hope that Sylar gains the Exxon Contacts power. That would add some crazy complications with a character who I only find creepy in his lack of not being a different villain.
