Nintendo 3DS

Thanks, El Scorpio, for the heads up.

Nintendo has announced the 3DS, a handheld system that will project 3D images but not require a pair of glasses.

Iwata is checking out, however, if playing games in 3D for an extended period of time causes health problems (Slade, imagine us in our Borderlands feast, now with Skags jumping out of the screen).

It will also have a camera (perhaps two for depth perception) and a motion sensor. Nintendo gave the vague “it will come out before summer 2011” release date.

It seems cool, although Nintendo’s philosophy of less expensive products sometimes translates into not having the most recent tech advances hardware wise (design wise they are cutting edge). It’s great creativity, but I wish there could be a happy merge of the Wii and the PS3.
