Today we rounded up all of the Lost and Found items at school. What shocked me is how many kids choose to throw away shoes instead of taking them home. These are shoes parents bought for PE, worn only for PE, and then the kids throw them away. What makes it even more intriguing is that they tell their parents that someone broke into their locker and took their stuff. They then get a new pair of shoes from their parents.
The next few days involve us trying to track down the parents of those shoes.
Yeah, it’s as exciting as it seems.
But whatever does not get claimed I’m taking to Street Light to help the people mentioned in a previous article on this site.
What I noticed when contacting Street Light today is that they’ve set up a Target gift registry to supply their safe house. Very smart thinking! You’ll notice that I put a link in my sidebar for the registry for if you ever want to donate at a later time. What’s great is that it’s not just anonymous money – it’s actual items that you know will help girls who have been freed from the sex trade in our area.
